Hi all.
I found some small problems in real player and i was wondering if there is a solution.
First of all real player seams to block the click sound we hear in internet explorer after we click on a link or opening a page.
After closing real player the sound comes back again.
Also the shortcut alt+F4 doesn't always work for a strange reason and i have to close it from the file menu.
So did you have these problems with your real player and if you know how we can solve these problems it would be good but they are not serious problems.
Thanks

Hi.
I tried in the past the real alternative when i saw it on whitestick website but i didn't mannage to get it to work. I don't remember at the moment why exactly. Probaply because of my university network blocking ports.
Thanks for the suggestion anyway.
Also another problem with real player is that i can't control the volume of the sound separately from the screen reader. This can be done in latest versions of winnamp or windows media player.
But as i said these are small problems. I am mainly happy with real player 10.5.

Yes, I have experienced alt f4 not working as well. Minor annoyance to hit alt f, up arrow once and select exit. I use winamp or windows media whenever possible, but for some things, like NFL FieldPass, you have to use real player.

I've tried the real alternative too, and couldn't get it to work. I think it has problems if you also have real player installed; not sure about that.

Real player is my third choice after winamp and windows media player, for the reasons you mentioned earlier.

I think there may be a setting in jaws that let's it's volume be independent from real player. To me, this is the real problem as the other things (alt f4 not working, and the lack of a click) are minor inconveniences.

I'll see if I can find anything about the volume control and jaws, and post it if I find something.

Well, I went to the freedom scientific support site but couldn't find anything about the real player volume problem, though there was a solution for the same thing in winamp.

I went to the real player help system and discovered that that particular screen sucks the big one.

In short, I'm still stumped.

There is a way that you can control the audio volume from the JAWS volume, I've done it befor, but for got the key stroke for it.

Hi Bob.
It doesn't matter that you didn't find the solution. I appreshiate a lot the fact that you tried.
And thanks Dominick as well.

I've always wondered why the (Alt F4) command doesn't work in real player. If anybody can offer an explination for this I'd certainly love to hear it.

On all of my previous machines I've been easily able to adjust the real player volume using (ctrl and up or down arrows), obviously depending on which way you wish to go. However I bought a new machine about 3 months ago and those key strokes no longer work for me. Jaws is still saying volume up and down when I use the command, but the volume doesn't actually alter. The same when trying to fast forward or rewind anything using (ctrl right or left arrow). Jaws will say fast forward and rewind but the stream just keeps on playing and doesn't move at all. This also used to work for me with previous computers but doesn't any longer.

The other command I used to use a lot in RP was the seak too command. (ctrl E). That also no longer works for me. I can get to it threw the menus but the hot key doesn't work for me.

I wondered if you could toggle hot keys on and off in real player but if you can, I'm stumped as to where you find the area to do it. I didn't see anything of that nature in the real player options.

It's very frustrating because although I've heard many other people say nothing but bad things about Real player, I actually always got on well with it for streaming stuff online but now, for some reason, it isn't working as well for me as it used too.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks. Dan.
